April Newsletter

Dear Friends,

Welcome to spring!

Are you witnessing the signs of life waking up around you? Perhaps you’ve been feeling that same stir within yourself. As the comforts of winter slowly wane, we often find ourselves gaining the momentum to finally do the things we’ve been dreaming about all season long.

It is a beautiful interplay between nature and ourselves. As the crocus ventures above the ground and into the daylight, what have you noticed yourself doing to expand out of your own comfortable burrow? Or, perhaps, what would you like to do?

Growth can be a challenge, but it is one to be explored with the utmost care and curiosity. It is within that challenge that we witness our most amazing transformations. If the crocus lacked the desire to leave the dark comfort of the soil, we would never witness its bloom. The same is true for us—if we stay wrapped forever in our warm blankets, we miss the endless potential of our own blossoming.

As we step out of our burrows and back into community, I am thrilled to share some upcoming ways for us to connect. These opportunities are designed to support your transformation and help us celebrate this vibrant season together.

Thank you for continuing to show up and making this beautiful space a sanctuary. You may never truly know how a simple smile at your neighbor can have a monumental, lasting impact.

You are perfect just the way you are. I am so glad to have you here.

Yours Truly,

Jennifer Marriott

Om shanti, shanti, shanti

After School Program

Alyx Sellers pictured here, guiding students into a challenging balance pose, Garudasana “Eagle.”

Students are sad to be finishing up the 6 week series this Wednesday, April 8th, and asked if we could extend it longer! A testament to how wonderful Alyx is as a teacher.

Thankfully, this is just the beginning of our Kid’s Programming, so stay tuned for more!

Monthly Community Circle

Friday, April 17th 5:30 - 7pm

We have taken a bit of a break from our Monthly Community Class! This month we will start a 12-month journey through the “Limbs of Yoga.”

Our collective goal for this gathering is to enhance our wellbeing through curiosity, positive social interaction and movement.

Each month, we will explore a different “Limb” of yoga to guide our practice on the mat and our conversations after around the fire.

Logistics:

  • Starting with a 45-60 min All Levels Vinyasa Flow.

  • Transitioning to outdoor time: sharing food and stories around the fire - weather permitting (please bring a cup or mug for hot tea/soup).

  • Free of charge and all props/equipment provided.

  • No yoga experience necessary and open to all ages.

  • Optional donation to benefit our Community Scholarship Fund for the Independent Study Program.

BTW: Children are welcome! This is a great opportunity to introduce your kiddo’s to the practice of yoga. All ages are welcome.

Please sign up in advance, limited spots available.

Honoring Yoga

To practice Yoga is to be a guest in a profound and ancient tradition. In an effort to honor its true roots and appreciate the culture, we are sharing a piece of the lineage here each month.

Today, we share the invocation/convocation used by Meg Newlin to open and close the practice. These words are more than just a ritual; they are a calling together of our energy and a bow of respect to the teachers who preserved these teachings through the ages.

Opening:

Om Saha navavatu

Saha nau bhunaktu

Saha viryam karavavahai

Tejasvi navadhitam astu

Ma vidvishavahai

Om shantih shantih shantih

Oh Lord, may we be protected

May we be nourished

May we create strength among one another

May our study be filled with light

May there be no ill feeling among us

Om, peace, peace, peace

Closing:

Om Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah

Sarve Santu Niraamayaah

Sarve Bhadraanni Pashyantu

Maa Kashcid-Duhkha-Bhaag-Bhavet

Om Shaantih Shaantih Shaantih

Om, May All be Happy,

May All be Free from Illness.

May All See what is Auspicious,

May no one suffer.

Om Peace, Peace, Peace.

Thank you for being here!
