Journaling

Journaling is one of the many valuable tools I keep readily available in my personal “Tool Box” for success and well-being. Writing feels very cathartic and provides a safe, private way to release thoughts, emotions, and stresses while encouraging deeper reflection. Journaling can be incredibly broad and flexible, with absolutely no right or wrong way to do it! Some days, I simply write about what we did as a family, capturing everyday moments, while other entries might take on a more poetic tone, exploring feelings or ideas. Sometimes, my journal pages are just filled with drawings, doodles or collages from events or trips. The important thing is to make journaling uniquely your own experience and breathe slowly while doing it.

If you get stuck on what to do with your journal, here are a few prompts to get you started:

  1. Today, I appreciated these 3 things:

  2. I am proud of doing this today _______________________

  3. What was the last thing that made me smile?

Instead of getting defensive, say, “Thanks for letting me know your thoughts. I’ll consider them.”
